Is the Internet Killing the Nude Beach? (via The Atlantic)
Clothing-optional public spaces seem to be declining in popularity, especially among young people, whose relationship with nudity has been shaped by a lifetime online.
To Lily Simpson, a 30-year-old from London who moved to Copenhagen about two years ago, the Danes have a refreshingly relaxed attitude toward nudity. People don’t generally bother hiding under a towel while changing into their swimwear. And there are no laws prohibiting public nudity in Denmark, so it’s normal to see topless women sunbathing along the harbor that runs through the city or people skinny-dipping at the beach. But to Claus Jacobsen, a 36-year-old who grew up in a suburb of Copenhagen, the Danes’ comfort with nudity is a far cry from what it used to be. He remembers that, when he went to the beach with his family as a child, pretty much all women, including his mother and aunt, would be topless, which is not close to the case today. Topless or nude sunbathing still doesn’t raise many eyebrows, and he suspects that most Danes would oppose an attempt to outlaw their right to it. They just seem to be exercising that right less often these days. Torben Larson, the chairman of the Danish Naturists association (naturist is another term for nudist) told me that he was less convinced that the rate of nude bathing is universally declining—he senses that it is increasing among older Danes—but agreed that younger generations seem much less interested in nude bathing, and in other nude activities, for that matter.

I asked BARD the Google AI about naturism and it said
I asked BARD the Google AI about naturism. The internet is a buzz with talk about AI. ChatGPT the open source AI learning machine created quite the stir when it was released to public recently. There are all kinds of reports about how this will change the way we live. Many people from teachers and professors to coders opined about how it might change their lives and as I result society. Microsoft and other tech companies moved quickly to about the new technology. Microsoft Integrated AI into its Bing search engine. Many others looked for ways to harness the new technology's power from creating imagery and writing blog posts.
Other naturist writers examined how Chat GPT or other AI might understand naturism and nudism. Robert G. Longpré
An Experiment With ChatGPT explored the AI's ability to right a story. On the Nude and Happy site another naturist tested the AI ability to write an essay about naturism AI on nudism and naturism! Several others also did similar inquiries.
AI and nude images
Some forward thinking naturists started exploring how the new AI engines might impact naturism online. The Naturist Education Foundation newsletter Doug Hickok Rise of the Machines explored using AI image generators that could be used to generate nude images for naturist use. These algorithms are already being used to create such images. In addition to the benefits for creators there are real dangers from this technology. I recently wrote about some of those dangers as it relates to the naturist community online. It could be used to create an online space where you may never know if the photos shown are of real people. The technology still has telltale signs as visible in the photo below but that may change. It remains to be seen if we will be able to comprehend future advances in AI Images below generated by neural love image generator with prompts naturist woman and nudist Hermione GrangerI asked BARD the Google AI about naturism.
Since this often controversial new technology conversation has been ongoing I have been following and thinking about this subject. This week Google released its "experimental" BARD AI and sent us a notice. I signed up to be on the waiting list for access. So, I asked BARD the Google AI about naturism and it said this.Prompt how to explain naturism

Naturism and sex are two different things. Naturism is the practice of being naked in a social setting, while sex is an act of physical intimacy that can involve nudity. Naturism is not inherently sexual, and people who participate in naturism do not necessarily engage in sex. Sex, on the other hand, can be done without nudity, and it is not necessary for naturism to be involved. Naturism is often seen as a way to connect with nature and to feel more comfortable with one's own body. It can also be a way to socialize with other people who are comfortable with nudity. Sex, on the other hand, is often seen as a way to express intimacy and to connect with another person on a deeper level. It can also be a way to experience pleasure. There are many different reasons why people might choose to participate in naturism. Some people find it to be a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend time outdoors. Others find it to be a way to connect with their body and to feel more comfortable in their own skin. Still others find it to be a way to socialize with other people who are comfortable with nudity. There are also many different reasons why people might choose to have sex. Some people find it to be a way to express intimacy and to connect with another person on a deeper level. Others find it to be a way to experience pleasure. Still others find it to be a way to procreate. It is important to note that there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to naturism or sex. Both activities can be enjoyable and fulfilling, and both can be done for a variety of reasons. It is important to choose what is best for you and to respect the choices of others. Naturism is the practice of being naked in public or in private, for non-sexual reasons. Sex is an act of physical intimacy between two or more people, typically involving sexual penetration, that is intended to provide sexual pleasure or to reproduce. Naturism and sex are two different things with different purposes and outcomes. Naturism is about being comfortable in your own skin and enjoying the natural world, while sex is about pleasure and reproduction. There are many reasons why people might choose to be naturists. Some people enjoy the feeling of being naked and free from the constraints of clothing. Others find that naturism helps them to connect with nature and to feel more at peace with themselves and their bodies. Still others find that naturism can be a social activity that helps them to meet new people and to make friends. Sex, on the other hand, is a more personal and intimate activity. It can be a way to express love and affection, to connect with another person on a deeper level, or to simply experience pleasure. Sex can also be a way to reproduce, but it is not necessarily the only way to do so. It is important to remember that naturism and sex are not mutually exclusive. A person can be a naturist and have sex, just as a person can have sex without being a naturist. The two activities are simply different and should not be confused with each other. How I discovered van life and found freedom - guest post Bird
The short story is that I lost my home and my bird rescue when COVID hit, so I built my minivan to live in. I was rear ended and totalled my first trip out. With the payout I bought the skoolie then built it out myself.
It was one of the hardest times of my life. I felt like I had lost everything. I was living with my daughter and grandkids and they moved in to their own place. I lost my bird rescue, my home, my daughter, and my grandkids. I thought it was the end of life. Then I found out about van life so I built the minivan and started working on myself, my anger, my trauma, my constant state of being a victim.
The self work and the build taught me so much about myself. I had never done anything alone! Since being on the road I've had so many self discoveries. Just being alone in nature teaches you everything you need to know. The stillness, the quiet, the beauty all around you. The storms come to remind you that you could never truly enjoy the calm without having gone through the storms.
I've been set free. I'm free from bills, I'm free from what society thinks I should do. I'm free to find myself without the influence of others. It's incredible, what I thought was terrible loss ended up being the very thing that set me free.
I now get to take my grandkids on the road with me for two months out of the year. We homeschool and travel. The only thing I was missing was time for myself. Time to allow myself to heal and be who I want to be.
As far as naturism goes, it's pretty new to me. I was headed home after spending 5 months work camping in Oregon. I planned to stop at every hot spring on the way home to pick up the grandkids for our visit. I had never visited hot springs outside of my own town before. I had done a lot of work on myself as far as feeling uncomfortable in my own skin and worked on past sexual trauma.
Prior to this I tried naturism. I did the world naked bike ride with friends. We had kayaked nude by moonlight, and hiked nude, but it always felt weird, The naked bike ride, the hiking and kayaking, it never felt right. I wasn't ready. I never had time to do the self work. I needed to do to be comfortable and to disassociate sex from being nude. Van life gave me that alone time to do the self work. It's the self discovery that van life has brought that has changed me. I think it's the lack of outside influence. Even though I do meet up with other van lifer's often, they are so open minded and they don't seem to judge. That's another reason I'm attracted to van life. The community is exactly the tribe I've needed.
When I arrived at the first hot spring, there were several in the area. I could take a short hike to and find the others pretty close by. I decided I wanted to try
naturism. I spent 7 days there nude exploring, soaking, meeting people, cooking, camping, and finding another part of freeing myself. For the first time I was finally able to disassociate sexuality from nudity. After this discovery it seems so strange to see how weirded out people are by something so natural.
Van life gave me the disassociation from people and societal norms. It gave me time without the influence of others, to make up my own mind as to what I wanted and what I considered ok and normal. That's why I always say that I'm trying to be a feral human. The farther I get away from what's expected as a part of society, or as a woman, etc, the better I feel. I'm tired of the expectations because of gender, social class, age, etc. It's literally all made up anyway.
Now, I make up my own morals and values based on what I learn from Mother Earth around me. I struggled with abandonment issues from being adopted. I realize now that Mother Earth is the only mother I need. She will never leave, she provides food, shelter, medicine, water, and everything we need to live. When we move close to nature we can see what truly needs our attention.
I also live with two disabled birds that are left over from the rescue. One is a pigeon and one is a rooster with brain damage. The rooster hikes, bikes, kayaks, and goes to work with me. I do work camping in
Oregon 5 months out of the year, where I live outside the campground on forest land and kayak to work every day. Besides the birds I have a rescued dog and two rescued kittens.

Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach
Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach, (1851-1913) a German symbolist, artist [ref] Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach [/ref]considered by some to be the founder of naturism.
After a revelation at viewing sunrise Diefenbach returned to social engagement wearing just a robe. He began to promote alternative life principles and practices that created the foundations of the Lebensreform and FKK movements that later formed the basis for naturism. [ref] When the "Kohlrabi Apostle" dreamed of paradise [/ref]
Diefenbach established a commune the Himmelhof in 1897. Twenty-four people lived there, including Gusto Gräser, who would later help to found Monte Verita. [ref] Diefenbach and his Time [/ref] Diefenbach's teachings walking barefoot, veganism and vegetarianism, exercise unclothed out doors and specific types loose clothing influenced later pioneers of the German naturism (FKK) and the Lebensreform movement like Ida Hofmann who confounded Mount of Truth (Monte Verita) and Adolf Koch founder of the Koch Institute who sought to integrate the principles in education.[ref] Diefenbach and his Time [/ref]
Though Diefenbach's alternative way of life engendered some suspicion in German society his artwork drew considerable interest. [ref] Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach German Painter, Symbolist and Naturalist [/ref]

Florida Principal Ousted After Parents Rage Over Michelangelo’s ‘Pornographic’ Statue (via The Daily Beast)
Some parents at Tallahassee Classical blew a gasket over their kids seeing Michelangelo’s most famous statue during an art history lesson.
A Florida charter school principal has been ousted after multiple parents complained that their sixth graders were made to view pornography—because they looked at Michelangelo’s iconic statue of David.
The statue was shown during a sixth grade art history lesson at Tallahassee Classical School, the Tallahassee Democrat first reported. One of the most famous pieces of artwork in the world, the statue shows a chiseled, naked man posing. But while most of the world sees it as art, some parents deemed it “pornographic” and said it “upset” their children.
